I'm currently pregnant with my first and this is SO refreshing to read. People are so overwhelming negative about how difficult parenthood is, that it makes me wonder why they chose that route to begin with. I understand there will be difficult moments, but it's nice to read from the perspective of people who are finding the joy and light and solace as well.
I feel I definitely had the experience (at times) when people we’re competing about how hard it is. Like almost bragging how busy and miserable it can be. There are hard days sure! Some hard weeks too. But so much joy. Not everyone “looses” themselves or has a style crisis! X
I still read 37 books the year I had my 2nd child. It's absolutely possible to find time for yourself. I always had my Kindle with me, especially during middle of the night nursing sessions. I listened to audiobooks on long walks. Both my kids were contact nappers and I took that time to read too.
I heartily agree, reading was and still is my time. It may have paid off too as my now 7 year old adores reading. He's seen me and my husband be absorbed by books and he now is too!
Filling my cup is also tea and a book, relaxation, escapism and being cosy, what's not to love! I'm the same as you, I've read when my kids have been little and throughout their childhoods. Just having a book to sink into even if it's just for a few pages can make a big difference to my day. It's something to look forward to as well. ❤️
Yes reading in short bursts has become the norm. Personally my social life and night life has taken more of a hit then my reading life since having kids! Reading after a chaotic day is such a reward!
It’s so negative, I also feel people love to focus on how hard it is. Whatever is really important to you there will be time to do. Even if you have to take it slower at times!

I feel like the baby life press is overwhelmingly negative, so this is a really nice and reassuring post for if/when I finally have children.
