My 10 before the END!!
now you tell me yours!
I cannot believe we are at this time of year already, I love seeing what other books people are prioritising for this year and it has lead me to think about mine.
Wreck by Catherine Newman - you know when a book meets you at the perfect time, that is exactly how I felt about the prequel Sandwich, I read it on holiday with my family and I became invested in these characters. I’m so excited to read this!
Big Kiss Bye Bye by Claire Louise Bennett - I was extremely influenced by
The Hounding by Xenon Purvis This sounds weird and wonderful, I love reading books that should just not work but somehow do.
Martyr by another book that I’ve never seen a bad review on! Very excited to read as part of a buddy read. If I get on well I would love to read some of Akbar’s poetry!
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton (audible) I love listening to huge books that I might not tackle as a paperback. I read Burnham Wood when it was released and really enjoyed Catton’s voice. Lumanaries was one that won her the booker prize. Very excited to get stuck in.
Human Acts by Han Kang slowly I’m trying to read through Kangs backlist. I loved Vegetarian when I read years ago, this is a library hold and should be available super soon!
Horses by Geraldine Brooks this has been on my kindle for a little while and I’m so excited to be reading this as part of a buddy read! I really do believe books are better when read together or at least discussed with others!
Vladimir by Julia May Jonas purely because
told me I had to! It’s had so many rave reviews I think it should be a fun read.Orlando by Virginia Woolf this I’m waiting on through the library so it will be luck if it gets delivered before end of year! Fingers crossed! I’ve also got Mrs Dalloway on my list but saving that for the new year. I really want to keep dipping my toe to the classics. Now I hate when a book has a movie still as its cover. But I am obsessed with Swinton and will 100% be looking out for this movie post read!
Creation lake by Rachel Kushner I dnf this earlier in the year. I just wasn’t in the right headspace to read despite enjoying what I’d read of the story. I’ve decided I’m ready for it and hoping to finish before the year ends.
Do we have any similar books? Now you tell me yours!

Vladimir is so good! Highly recommend.
I've been meaning to read Kang now for a while, I started Greek Lessons earlier this year and was enjoying it, but got distracted (my parents were visiting and driving me crazy!) and moved away from it. Have you read any Sigrid Nunez? Kang's style reminded me of her, I love some of her books (The Friend in particular)
